Leipzig/Zörbig, January 22, 2008 VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG has
achieved a preliminary Group-EBIT before special items (resulting from
first consolidation) in the single-digit million EUR range in 2007. The
result will be stressed by additional arising depreciations of stocks of
the bioethanol segment in the 4th quarter 2007 between 10 million EUR to 15
million EUR. Further value adjustments in the bioethanol segment in the
context of an impairment test are to be expected if the market conditions
are not changing and the currently passing Biomass Sustainability
Regulation (BioNachV) for a CO2-efficient production of biofuels fails to
create a framework for the German and European biofuel market based on
competitive fairness.
Despite difficult general conditions the management board is still
satisfied with the development in the Biodiesel segment. In this segment
the operative and technological strengths, the strong financial position of
the group in terms of liquidity and group equity of around 560 million EUR
(inclusive goodwill of 269 million EUR) prove to be a main competitive
advantage.
