DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. and NAPOLEONVILLE, La., Jan. 23, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Red Reef Laboratories International, Inc. (Pink Sheets:RRLB), a diversified scientific research, development, and marketing group focused on commercializing a variety of chemical and biological products, extends good wishes, good health and success for the New Year to all and takes this opportunity to recap the highlights of 2007 and discuss our goals for 2008.
In 2007, Red Reef focused on less capital intensive opportunities, such as the JDM/REEF joint-venture, the DITEC marketing and product development agreement and the Benchmark-China distribution agreement (to combat bird flu with BioClear FF.) We continue to work with our counter-parts in these ventures to develop their potential, which is substantial.
New for 2008, Benchmark China has reported a major wholesale distributor in China is poised to provide us with a Letter of Intent, upon which they will conduct field tests on BioClear FF, a company requirement prior to marketing. There are 472,000 poultry farms, 779,000 egg laying farms and 2000 pig farms in China. (BioClear FF, a surface disinfectant, is effective against most known danger organisms, bacteria and virus' affecting farm animals and poultry, including Bird Flu.)
In 2007, we filed a 10Q SB, voluntarily becoming a reporting company, and an SB 2, registering shares intended to raise equity capital for acquisitions, setting the stage for growth and development. Both filings have been reviewed by the SEC and are effective.
We were fortunate to have Nathan Evans accept the position of COO of Red Reef. Nathan is highly experienced and successful in remediation and post catastrophe reconstruction and will head this initiative. Other key personnel are available on short notice to round out operational positions.
In 2008, our goals are to pursue revenue from the above contracts and to acquire two previously targeted, revenue producing companies. These acquisitions will provide the assets and expertise to launch our planned Full Service Mobile Emergency Remediation Company.
New for 2008, at the request of a large Florida roofing contractor, our lab developed and we are now field-testing a proprietary user-friendly chemical for roof maintenance. Florida particularly has a type of mold which discolors many roofs and does not respond to many commonly used chemicals. Initial tests with our product show excellent promise.
2008 is poised to be Red Reef's first year of positive cash flow and is our core focus.
Our Long Term Objective: A most important accomplishment in 2007 was the refinancing of our Napoleonville, LA real estate and the decision to develop a Medical Research Center. We removed all liens and bank encumbrances with a $300,000 private mortgage and settled the debts at substantial savings.
New for 2008: The Louisiana South Central Planning and Development Commission is bidding out phase one development work in an effort to provide a grant which would assist in the initial development of the site.
In 2007, we engaged the Architect and Design firm of Whitney, Bailey, Cox and Magnani to provide us with a feasibility study for the best and highest use of the 80 plus acre parcel. We accepted the recommendation to develop a +/- 500,000 square foot Medical Research Center. The preliminary design calls for three buildings on Lake Front to be phased in as the project grows. To enhance the marketability of the center and to attract quality tenants, the following attributes are contemplated.
The laboratory and office space will be leased to tenants. The main lobby and common areas of each building will feature educational and cultural exhibits. The main building will be dedicated to fine art; one wing will stress American and Louisiana political history and the remaining wing will feature Medical Science and Aerospace. We hope to provide these themes in cooperation with the state universities, providing opportunities for students to receive credits for working at the site. Outdoor areas will be designed as a park-like campus, featuring sculpture and statues, meditation benches and nature trails, taking full advantage of the lake, pond and canal water features on the property. The campus will include housing, primarily for employees and families, with such amenities as jogging trails, swim club, tennis, health spa and hotel accommodations, to provide a conducive and comfortable environment for tenants and guests.
The property includes a +/- 60,000 sq. ft. excellent warehouse for lease, ideally suited for an indoor green market to serve the community, and to house a theater group to stage shows and concert performances. We have instructed our local reps to outsource local theater groups which would be best qualified to take up residence at our site and Red Reef will donate adequate space to accommodate their needs. In return, a percentage from ticket sales will be set aside for Cystic Fibrosis and Charitable Organizations of our choice. (We are seeking the endorsement of a high profile sports or entertainment personality already committed to Cystic Fibrosis research or other worthy causes.) After construction, the Theater Company will use the auditorium/theater in the main building for performances and retain their warehouse space for set construction and storage. However, the primary function of the auditorium will be to accommodate tenants' medical symposiums and lectures, etc. Red Reef intends to participate in the Louisiana Pavilion at the July 2008 Bio Show, in San Diego, California. Our intention is to gain the support and cooperation of the Governor of Louisiana and court potential tenants for our state of the art Medical Research facility.
The Red Reef "Strategy for Success" is predicated on our ability to build "platforms" of progress, evaluate and move to the next level. We've learned that flexibility and determination are key assets.
In 2008, Red Reef management, dedicated to building shareholder value, will continue to have our loyal shareholders' interests in mind.
