Epson Expands Industry-Leading Projector Line With New PowerLite 83+ and 822+ for Education

New Projectors Help Engage Students With More Vibrant Image Quality and Powerful Audio

LONG BEACH, Calif., Feb. 20, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Epson, the number-one selling projector brand worldwide, today unveiled two new multimedia projectors -- the Epson PowerLite(r) 83+ and 822+, available for $899 and $949*. Optimized for education environments, the PowerLite 83+ and 822+ feature 2,200 and 2,600 (ISO 21118 standard) lumens respectively, XGA resolution, a built-in closed captioning decoder, and wired LAN connectivity for monitoring and control at just 6.4 lbs. In addition, both projectors are equipped with a powerful internal 10-watt speaker to accommodate more demanding audio needs in K-12 classrooms. The PowerLite 83+ replaces the PowerLite 83c, a classroom-tested projector that was one of the top selling education models of last year.

"Understanding the unique needs of today's educators and the increasingly important role that technology plays in learning, Epson is constantly researching and developing projectors that provide the best overall balance of features, performance and price," said Heather Litus, product manager, Epson America. "Modeled after their popular predecessors, the new PowerLite 83+ and 822+ feature a new 10-watt speaker for multimedia presentations with audio that fills even the largest classroom settings."

The PowerLite 83+ and 822+ projectors are not only reliable and easy to use, but they also offer a wealth of features and benefits designed specifically for educators and campus technicians. Some of these include:

 * Network Monitoring and Control: RJ-45 wired LAN connectivity for
remote monitoring and control via a school's IT network helps saves
time and money, regardless of the projector's physical location
 * Built-in Closed Captioning: Built-in closed captioning decoder for
hearing impaired students; offers schools and organizations a
low-cost solution for meeting ADA508 requirements without
   purchasing and installing external decoders
 * Epson 3LCD technology: Three-chip engine produces vibrant and
natural colors, with intensely detailed images, resulting in the
ability to project multimedia content that is more visually
   engaging
 * Energy-efficiency: Epson E-TORL(r) lamp technology delivers more
   lumens per watt, leading to a significant cost savings over time;
projector lamps last up to 3,000 hours
 * Easy Operation: Five-second Instant On and Epson Instant Off(r) to
avoid delays when starting and finishing lectures
 * Versatile Presentation Modes: Seven special color modes, including
blackboard mode, for presenting in a variety of environments
 * Setup Flexibility: 1.2 manual zoom and +30 degree automatic
keystone correction for easy and convenient operation in multiple
   classroom settings

Epson also offers a unique sales and support initiative that is available specifically for schools, the Brighter Futures(sm) program, designed to help educators select and implement the best products for their classrooms while making the most of their budgets. In addition to special pricing, the program offers extended Epson limited warranty coverage for three years, dedicated education account managers, and toll-free technical support for all Epson projectors.
