Xandros and opsi Team Up to Create Productivity Booster for Windows Workstation Maintenance
Low-Cost Turnkey Solution for Windows Deployment and Updates to Preview at CeBit in Hanover
| Source: Xandros, Inc.
HANOVER, GERMANY--(Marketwire - March 5, 2008) - (CeBIT) -- Xandros, the leading provider
of intuitive Linux solutions and mixed-environment management tools, and
opsi, a leading provider of Linux-based tools for the maintenance of
Windows workstations, today announced the preview of opsi4xandros at CeBIT
in Hanover. The all-in-one turnkey solution enables Windows system
administrators with no Linux experience to deploy and maintain Windows
service packs and security updates on client PCs, and signature file
updates for anti-virus software. The new solution also maintains
centralized hardware and software inventories.
"The beauty of merging Xandros Server with our opsi tools is that it
provides a foolproof turnkey solution that dramatically reduces
administrative costs," said Detlef Oertel, CEO of uib GmbH and sponsor of
the opsi project. "It will enable us to offer a fool-proof, low-cost
deployment solution to many businesses that would not have considered using
a Windows alternative to maintain their workstations."
"The opsi tools for managing Windows desktops will fill a critical niche in
our cross-platform management portfolio, especially for SMBs with mixed
desktop environments," said Andreas Typaldos, Xandros CEO. "Their
integration into the Xandros Server management console provides an
unbeatable one-two deployment punch."
Showcased at CeBIT Hanover
The opsi4xandros preview will be showcased at the uib stand, CeBIT Hanover,
March 4-9, Hall/Halle 5, Linuxpark, Booth/Stand G47. Commercial release of
opsi4xandros is slated for the second quarter of 2008.
