Nissin Systems Selects Lantronix Technology Platform to Support IPv6, the Next-Generation Internet Protocol

Available in Asia-Pacific, IPv6 is Offered On Lantronix XPort and UDS Device Servers Running Nissin's uITRON Operating System

IRVINE, Calif., March 25, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq:LTRX) today announced that Nissin Systems Co., Ltd. has chosen its XPort(r) embedded networking module and UDS device server platforms to host their implementation of IPv6, the next-generation Internet protocol. XPort and UDS work in conjunction with Nissin's uITRON operating system and enable Asia-Pacific's leading electronic companies to gain a competitive advantage by leveraging the benefits of connecting their equipment to IPv6 networks. The key benefit is a much larger address space which will provide greater flexibility with hundreds of billions more available IP addresses. This will help IT administrators simplify addressing schemes and make management easier with auto-configuration capabilities. In addition, users can experience improved routing performance, increased Internet security, and enhanced quality of service. For example, in Japan, Voice over IP (VoIP) providers are already experiencing the benefits of IPv6 and auto-configuration. As the telephone systems use IP data networks, management costs are virtually eliminated as far fewer configurations are required.

"The move to IPv6 is already underway in Japan and companies are looking for technology that supports and utilizes this new standard," said Daryl R. Miller, VP Engineering for Lantronix. "Nissin is taking a leading step in this movement and we are pleased they have selected our XPort and UDS device server platforms to make it happen."

Lantronix XPort is a compact, integrated networking module that allows OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to quickly network enable any device. Packaged as an RJ45 connector, it provides all the essential features to streamline development, integration and minimize time to market. It includes a 10/100 Ethernet connection, a proven robust operating system, an embedded web server, email alerts, a full IPv4 TCP/IP protocol stack, and optional 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption.

Lantronix UDS family of device servers enables users to connect, manage, and control just about any piece of equipment with a serial port from virtually anywhere over the Internet or network. Offering the same functionality as the XPort, the UDS contains a complete web server and is compatible with all standard web browsers. Both platforms are customizable using Lantronix development tools. The UDS can also be used as a modem replacement allowing customers to replace PCs with modems or dedicated modem hardware with fast and reliable Ethernet-based broadband networking.

"Lantronix technology provides a flexible networking platform that allowed us to easily develop applications and enhance our operating system," said Koji Otsubo, president of Nissin Systems Co., Ltd. "Combining the power of our technologies, we are answering our customers' need for a ubiquitous, cost-effective solution that will allow them to take advantage of IPv6 capabilities with an easy-to-integrate solution."

Nissin's uITRON operating system is based on TRON, Japan's most popular real-time operating system. Nissin's 4.0 development kit, with support for IPv6, is now available through Nissin Systems in Japan. For more information, please visit: www.co-nss.co.jp.
