TAIPEI, Taiwan, April 2, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Antig Technology (www.antig.com), a leading fuel cell stack and solutions company based out of Taipei, Taiwan, today announced that it has received Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) approval for its H2PowerChip(tm) Stack "AX012-0602" -- UL number IRGU2.MH45916. Antig's innovative H2PowerChip(tm) Stack is the first of its kind to receive UL certification covering the use of methanol based micro fuel cells for use in portable electronic equipment (ITE).
"This completion of UL certification on Antig's H2PowerChip(tm) Stack is a significant achievement for Antig," said Brent McKendry, CEO of Antig Technology. Mr. McKendry went on to say that "Antig has been an early pioneer of fuel cell technologies and has invented a unique and proprietary method for the design and manufacture of micro fuel cell systems. These systems are built on the core Antig H2PowerChip technology, with stack that leverages industry standard PCB-like lamination technologies," added McKendry. "This approach results in smaller, lighter and more cost effective fuel cell systems, something we believe is critical in order to jump start broader market acceptance of fuel cell technology for portable devices and applications.
Antig is currently working with a number of partners who expect to release product in late 2008. Antig will unveil its complete 2008 fuel cell product lineup for powering portable and small stationary applications at the upcoming Hannover Messe 2008 in Germany (April 21-25, Hall 13, Stand F54/3).
