Wall Street Journal Digital Network Names Chief Technology Officer


NEW YORK, May 13, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Today, The Wall Street Journal Digital Network named Sarabjit "Ruby" Walia as chief technology officer, effective immediately.

Mr. Walia, 47, will be responsible for directing and managing all aspects of technology for the network -- which includes WSJ.com (www.wsj.com), Barrons.com (www.barrons.com) and MarketWatch.com (www.marketwatch.com) -- to ensure full functionality of existing systems as well as the development and implementation of world-class technology systems and products to meet growing business and organizational objectives.

Mr. Walia will be based in New York and will report to Gordon McLeod, president of The Wall Street Journal Digital Network.

Prior to joining Dow Jones, Mr. Walia was group chief information officer for Financial Dynamics in New York, a business and financial communications consultancy. He also served as senior vice president and chief information officer, commercial operations, for NBC Universal and as senior vice president and chief information officer for Universal Television Networks. Mr. Walia has also held key management positions with Viacom, Inc., including senior vice president, World Wide Architecture, research and online/interactive services. He began his career in 1981 as founding partner of the Information Engineering Group in Columbia, Mo.

Mr. Walia attended the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Missouri and is a graduate of the Executive Development Program at the Wharton School. Mr. Walia resides in Demarest, N.J., with his wife and two sons.
