NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships to Take Place On Mondo Super X Performance Track

OSHKOSH, Wis., May 22, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- When the top teams and individuals in NCAA Division III track and field return to University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for the men's and women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, they'll be taking their marks on a Mondo Super X Performance track.

The Mondo Super X Performance track -- the track of the past eight Olympic Games -- was installed at UW Oshkosh's Titan Stadium in 2005 as part of an extensive renovation of the Oshkosh Sports Complex. The nine-lane track as well as the three jump runways, the pole vault runway, and the discus, hammer throw and shot put surfaces all feature Mondo Super X Performance, making the stadium one of the best track and field venues in the Midwest.

The Division III national championships, today through Saturday, are being held for the second consecutive year at UW Oshkosh's J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. "We have hosted numerous meets since the installation of our Mondo track, and the feedback we have received from athletes and coaches has been very positive," said John Zupanc, UW Oshkosh's head coach, men's track and field.

Deb Vercauteren, women's track and field head coach, said her team has stayed healthy and the athletes' performances have steadily improved throughout their time training and competing on the Mondo surface. "We race on a wide variety of track surfaces during the season, so our athletes realize how fortunate they are to train and compete on a world-class surface."

The world's top track for more than 30 years, Mondo Super X Performance has been installed at more than 1,100 venues globally. Recognized globally as the fastest, most durable and environmentally safest track available, it has been used in the past eight Olympic Games, and Mondo is the official supplier to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing for athletic tracks.

"Many of the leading track and field facilities in the world have installed Mondo tracks because of its superior performance and innovative design," said Federico Stroppiana, president of Mondo North and South America. "It was designed to help athletes perform their best, which is why nearly 230 world records and countless national and personal bests have been set on Mondo tracks."

Mondo's Super X Performance track was developed to maintain its initial physical properties, so it provides consistent performance throughout its life. The vulcanized natural rubber surface provides maximum elasticity and unparalleled durability, and its embossed, textured finish makes it extremely easy to maintain with no resurfacing required. The high-performance track is renowned for its shock absorption and optimal energy return, and its ideal blend of speed and comfort minimizes the occurrence of injuries.
