New Xandros Management Tool Facilitates Red Hat Server Administration
Xandros BridgeWays Management Console Smooths Server Migration From Windows to Red Hat
| Source: Xandros, Inc.
BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - June 17, 2008) - Red Hat Summit -- Xandros, Inc., the leading
provider of custom OEM Linux solutions, next-generation Linux desktop and
server products, and advanced cross-platform Windows-Linux management
tools, today announced the release of the all new Xandros Bridge
Ways Management Console for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux, to be showcased at the Red Hat Summit in Boston.
The BridgeWays Management Console, immediately available as a free download
from the Xandros web site, brings powerful graphical management of Red Hat
servers to system administrators who may have Windows Server skill sets,
but no prior Linux experience. Linux administrators will also find that
this all-in-one remote management console relieves them from resorting to
command line options or using multiple tools to administer their Red Hat
servers. Multiple servers and services are integrated into a single "Managed Community" that can be remotely administered from
either a Red Hat server, or from any Windows XP or Vista desktop.
"Windows administrators who have been afraid to try Linux servers should
fear no more. Many companies claim to have Linux management software that's
easy and intuitive, but Xandros is the only one to truly deliver on that
promise," said Marcin Zalicki, Country Manager of Amazis.net, a leading
Polish open IT solutions provider. "Clear, intuitive, and really easy to
use, Xandros BridgeWays for Red Hat will open the eyes of Windows
administrators to the power of the Linux world. By collecting services like
DHCP, DNS, firewall, file and print servers, Web servers, or even virtual
machines, high availability and failover in a single place, the BridgeWays
Management Console reduces to a minimum their administrative tasks. They
can even manage their Red Hat servers directly from their Windows machine,
and no additional training is required."
"Today, with our coupling of rock solid Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the
ease of Xandros BridgeWays Management Console, there is no better time to
employ Linux servers and solve IT needs. Now that we have eliminated the
need for in-house Linux experts or costly outside consultants, a large
number of businesses can benefit from inexpensive and robust Linux
solutions," said Andreas Typaldos, Xandros CEO. "We began the BridgeWays
project two years ago with the vision that centralized graphical management
tools and workflow automation would help spur the growth of Linux servers
in areas where Windows servers were predominant. After a fast rise to about
20 percent of the server market, the worldwide curve of Linux server
installs has since flattened, while the Windows server share has risen to
as much as 70 percent. This underscores the need to make Linux servers easy
to administer."
Xandros BridgeWays Management Console provides centralized user management,
system monitoring, and event viewing for administrators using 32- and
64-bit versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.6, 5.1, or 5.2. The
BridgeWays Managed Community enables the integrated management and
administration of a host of Red Hat services via management plug-ins,
including high availability and load balancing clusters, DHCP, DNS, file,
firewall, FTP, print, proxy, routing, SELinux, SSH, storage manager,
virtual machine manager, Web, Windows networking, and many others.
Showcased at Red Hat Summit
The Xandros BridgeWays Management Console for Red Hat is showcased at the
Xandros booth G2, at the Red Hat Summit, Hall D, Hynes Convention Center,
Boston, MA June 18-20. BridgeWays support for the Novell SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server will follow later in 2008. In addition, Xandros will also
showcase BridgeWays Management Packs for Microsoft System Center Operations
Manager for large scale heterogeneous cross-platform system management.
Pricing and Availability
The new Xandros BridgeWays Management Console for Red Hat has a suggested
retail price of USD $449.00. A free, unsupported version of the BridgeWays
Management Console for managing first two servers in the same Management
Community is available for immediate download from the Xandros web site. For enterprising licensing and support, please
