Epson Expands Multimedia Projector Line With Three New Value Projectors With Innovative USB Connectivity

Epson PowerLite S6, 78c, and W6 Provide Offices and Schools With Hassle-free USB Plug n' Project Connectivity in 3LCD Projectors Starting At $549

LONG BEACH, Calif., June 18, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Epson, the number-one selling projector brand worldwide, today announced three sub-$800 entry-level 3LCD, 3-Chip multimedia projectors ideal for a wide range of business, education and home environments. The three new models offer Epson's proprietary USB "Plug n' Project" connectivity, a hassle-free way to configure the projector to any system for a fast and easy connection.

The Epson PowerLite(r) W6 projector ($799*) is Epson's first low-cost WXGA resolution model (16:10 aspect ratio), delivering USB video, VGA video, and HDMI connectivity for high-definition quality video and digital audio from just one cable. In addition, it offers slideshow functionality via a USB thumb drive or an SD card for easily sharing pictures, a 7W speaker for great sound, and 2,000 lumens white light output and 2,000 lumens color light output for outstanding color performance at this price point. The Epson PowerLite 78c ($649*) with XGA resolution and the Epson PowerLite S6 ($549*) with SVGA resolution deliver 2,200 lumens color light output and 2,200 lumens white light output, and weigh 6.2 pounds and 6.0 pounds, respectively. All three models feature Epson's latest high aperture 3LCD, 3-Chip optical engine and a 2000:1 contrast ratio to offer outstanding image quality at competitive price points.

The PowerLite W6, S6 and 78c also feature Epson E-TORL(tm) lamp technology which allows each projector to achieve more efficiency by projecting more lumens (brightness) per watt. This technology also allows the lamp to last up to 4000 hours(1) in economical mode -- up to 50 percent longer than competitively priced models.

Convenient Connectivity for Any Projection Environment

Delivering unmatched flexibility and versatility, all three Epson projectors offer Epson's proprietary USB Plug n' Project connectivity for quick projection on-the-spot. By simply connecting a USB cable, users can begin using the projector immediately. This means no more hassling with computer function keys to display an image -- just plug and project! In addition, all three projectors offer Direct Power On and Direct Power Off for controlling power from a light switch when the projector is installed.

"With this new class of entry-level projectors, Epson brings presentation ease of use, versatility, and affordability to entrepreneurs, educators and business professionals alike," said Carrie Brown, product manager, Epson America Inc. "Customers will benefit from the flexibility of USB connectivity combined with industry-leading image quality and performance that are inherent in Epson's award-winning projectors and 3LCD technology."

Additional features of the Epson PowerLite W6, S6 and 78c include:

 * Epson 3LCD, 3-Chip Technology: Features Epson's latest
high-aperture, 3-Chip 3LCD optical engine to deliver amazing color
and detail for powerful presentations; 3LCD technology provides
true-to-life image quality using a solid-state optical engine that
works without a moving color wheel, delivering accurate color
registration, and detailed video and data images that are crisp
   and rainbow-free
 * Instant On and Instant Off(r): Enables presenters to be up and
running in only five seconds between pressing the "Power" button
and the appearance of the start-up screen to avoid delays at the
beginning of a presentation; powers down in four seconds enabling
presenters to unplug and pack up immediately and safely without a
   cool-down period
 * Easy Picture Adjustment: Features automatic keystone correction
and 1.2x digital zoom (PowerLite 78 and PowerLite W6) for greater
positioning flexibility and projecting a clear image from short
   and long throw distances
 * A/V Mute Slide: Instantly turns off the sound and images to create
a quick pause in the presentation, conserving lamp life and
energy; the projector enters A/V Mute mode when the lens cover is
closed and returns to normal mode automatically and immediately
   upon reopening the lens cover
