About the Author

Paul Siemens was raised on a Kansas cattle ranch and wheat farm until age 15 when the family moved to the San Joaquin Valley in California. He obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work and then the Vietnam War came calling. After being discharged from the Air Force in 1971, there were few jobs available due to the recession. The next 32 years were spent as a State Farm Insurance agent during which his love for horses gradually began to be fulfilled. He twice placed top 10 at the Morgan National World Championship Horse Show in Western Pleasure and 4th and 2nd in the Carriage Division. His beloved Poco ridden by Sherry Robinson (Lower) placed 1st in ridden dressage. Health issues curtailed these activities in 2000 and he retired to enjoy his family, his horses, and hobbies. He makes his home in Parker, Colorado, still driving Poco and Raven while he continues to train Moki. A consummate philosopher, his observations on the human animal and horses were recorded over a span of 40 years. Only after retirement did the notion of writing a book occur. His two lifetime friends, Ray and Carl, were very instrumental in encouraging him to write his observations into book form.
