IRVINE, Calif., June 24, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC), a leading manufacturer of high performance analog/mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors, has announced a new state-of-the-art Power Solution Module(tm) for high power S-Band Air Traffic Control Systems.
Designated the 2729-300P, the compact device is a 50 ohm matched module providing excellent RF performance with greater than 300 Watts of pulsed RF output power, at one hundred microsecond pulse width and ten percent duty factor across the 2700-2900 MHz band.
The 2729-300P features a high power gain of greater than 8 dB, an excellent rise time of 70ns typical, and outstanding gain flatness, typically 0.3 dB. Its design provides exacting reliability with a mean time to failure of greater than one million hours and exceeds the requirements of Mil Standard 750 Method 2016 and 2056 for stringent mechanical shock and vibration.
Key Specifications:
* Frequency Coverage: 2700 - 2900 MHz * Pulse Format: 100 us, 10% * Excellent Output Power: greater than 300W * High Power Gain: greater than 8 dB min * Collector Efficiency: greater than 40% * Operation: Class C, Single Bias at +36V * Compact Size: 2" x 1.4" x 0.21"
Microsemi's line of plug-and-play Power Solutions Modules significantly reduce system design time by eliminating complex RF impedance matching and reducing combined stages. System performance is enhanced by greater reliability and repeatability. Production advantages include eliminating transistor assembly and RF tuning, improving production yield, and reducing scrap and system component inventory.
Microsemi continues to push the performance envelope to address the exact needs of the air transport market which has ever more stringent requirements for radar systems handling the substantial increase in air traffic worldwide. This robust 2729-300P Power Solution Module delivers the outstanding RF performance needed.
The Power Solution Module employs proprietary chip designs, effective power combining, and advanced state-of-the-art automated assembly and testing. These design and manufacturing advantages produce high performance in power output, gain, efficiency, and footprint while achieving outstanding module-to-module consistency and repeatability in high volumes. Microsemi also builds custom Power Solution Modules to customer specifications.
Demo units of the 2729-300P module are available immediately. Contact the factory or email direct to psm@microsemi.com. Complete datasheets are available on our website at http://www.microsemi.com.
