Rogue Wave(R) Hydra Suite Helps Optimize Multi-Core Technology
Solution Will Enable Enterprises Across Many Industries to Migrate Their Existing C++ Applications to Multi-Core x86 Hardware
| Source: Rogue Wave Software
BOULDER, CO, and SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - June 25, 2008) - Rogue Wave Software, Inc.,
the leader in enterprise class C++ components, today announced a solution
that will address the need to move millions of existing C++ installations
to multi-core hardware and to benefit from significant performance
enhancements. Rogue Wave has ported and certified its Hydra Product Suite
to the Solaris ™ Operating System (OS) on x86. These certified tools
are designed to assist customers in the migration of their existing C++
applications to multi-core chips.
According to a recent report from Forrester research,(1) application
development teams must take a new programming approach to reap the full
benefits of the new multi-core computing hardware. Many companies have
already found that single-threaded applications may actually run slower on
multi-core hardware and need to build concurrency into their applications
without a complete re-write of the underlying code. Rewriting the
applications can be time consuming, extremely costly and risky. The
alternative is to utilize tools that abstract the complexity of
multi-threading away, such as the ones available from Rogue Wave.
"Single-core servers will soon be obsolete, and many existing applications
aren't equipped to take full advantage of the multi-core hardware
platforms," said Thomas Gaunt, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
at Rogue Wave. "Only Rogue Wave provides a development environment that
simplifies and accelerates the creation and enhancement of high performance
C++ applications and interoperates with the most widely-used platforms."
"I am pleased to expand our collaboration with Rogue Wave to provide
enhanced developer solutions for enterprises and ISVs," said Juan Carlos
Soto, Vice President of Global Market Development and Engineering, Sun
Microsystems, Inc. "Rogue Wave's development environment helps enterprises
modernize existing C++ applications and develop new ones that take
advantage of multi-core hardware advantages such as increased performance
and scalability while consuming less power."
