CORDOVA, Tenn., July 7, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Literature enthusiasts as well as fans of love stories and fantasies are in for a special treat from author Gary Pulliam as Xlibris releases his compelling and imaginative new book The Man Who Laughs.
The Man Who Laughs is Pulliam's abridged adaptation of Victor Hugo's masterpiece. Its story is set in colonial England, where a world of social, political, and religious chaos abound. Driven by an extraordinary love story that also speaks of a passionate love of the earth and motivation to survive, its narrative will keep you riveted and engaged until the very end. Filled with suspense, intrigue and drama, this fantasy will take you on an intense metaphysical level and at the same time give you a new sense of life and love.
About the Author
Gary Pulliam was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1943. He spent most of his adult life in sales and marketing. Yet with that background, he always reasoned that if and when he grew up he would become a writer. Sixty years later, he fulfilled that dream. This modern adaptation of The Man Who Laughs and its companion screenplay fulfill his lifelong dream of putting a good story in print. These are his first published writings -- they will not be his last. With a thirst for knowledge in religion, history and the literary arts, he majored in these subjects when he attended the University of Memphis. Reading and research has been his passion in life. As a self-educated film and music historian he is now convinced that in the last century these segments of pop culture have been as influential as religion or politics. There are many who agree. One of his lifelong concerns has been the deterioration of family and culture. An analytic study of this has led him to conclude many of the reasons why this is so. He hopes his life experiences and writing will touch others in some meaningful way. He currently lives in Memphis, Tennessee with his wife, Carolyn. They remain close to all five of their children as well as their seven grandchildren.
