Kesko's June sales increased by 0.6%

The Kesko Group's sales from continuing operations in June 2008 totalled €823.6 million (excluding VAT) and showed an increase of 0.6% over the corresponding period of the previous year. In January-June, the sales from continuing operations were €4,896.4 million (excluding VAT), up 6.6%. The sales from foreign operations in June were €190.6 million, an increase of 0.5%. Foreign operations accounted for 23% of the Group's sales.
 
In June, Kesko Food's sales were €352.7 million, representing a growth of 1.0%. Grocery sales to K-food store chains increased by 3.6%.
 
Rautakesko's sales decreased by 1.4% to €238.2 million in June. Sales in Finland were down by 7.6%. Abroad, the combined sales increase was 2.3%. In the Baltic countries, sales decreased by 4.6%. Stroymaster's sales in Russia increased by 29.9%.
 
VV-Auto's sales were €72.8 million in June, which was 7.0% more than in the previous year. In Finland, first registrations of passenger cars increased by 3.1% in June. First registrations of passenger cars represented by VV-Auto grew by 11.4% and their market share was 15.5% (14.3%).
 
Anttila's June sales were €38.1 milllion, a decrease of 2.1%. The sales of Anttila department stores decreased by 3.6%, and those of Kodin Ykkönens by 2.6%. NetAnttila's distance sales were up by 9.1%.
 
Kesko Agro's sales in June were €65.2 million, up 2.5%. Sales in Finland increased by 3.1% due to the grain, animal feed and chemicals trade. Sales in the Baltic countries grew by 1.7%, owing to the grain trade. 
 
 
Other operating activities consist of Konekesko, Intersport Finland, Indoor Group, Musta Pörssi and Kenkäkesko.
 
On 28 February 2008, the Kesko Group classified Kauko-Telko, and on 31 March 2008, Tähti Optikko Group as discontinuing operations, which is why the sales of those operating activities are not included in the above figures.
 
Starting from July 2007, Rautakesko's sales figures include the sales of OMA, the Belorussian subsidiary of Rautakesko's subsidiary Senukai.
 
Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
In June 2008, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale was 20, which was the same as in June 2007. In January-June, the total number of wholesale selling days was one more than in the previous year. The number of retail days in June was the same as the year before.
 
Kesko publishes advance information about the K-Group's retail sales quarterly, in connection with the interim financial reports.
