Green G3 First GreenFumeHood Product

Breakthrough Technology Could Save Billions of Dollars Annually in Energy Costs

OOLTEWAH, Tenn., July 25, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Advanced Lab Concepts, a leading laboratory furniture and fume hood manufacturer, is pleased to announce the partnering with Erlab, a global leader in filtration technology, to incorporate their GreenFumeHood(r) Technologies(tm) into the Green G3, the latest addition to the existing line of G3 fume hoods.

In March 2008 at the PITTCON Conference, Erlab introduced the GreenFumeHood technology, which represents the next generation of chemical fume containment. This revolutionary new technology is well founded on almost 40 years of research, technology, and product development. Breakthroughs in molecular filtration now allow for fume containment without the need for 100% exhaust.

This combination of technologies represents a paradigm change in the century-old technology used in the ventilation of science labs. Chip Albright, President of Collegedale LLC, an Advanced Lab Concepts company, stated, "This is comparable to developing a car that gets 300 miles to a gallon." He continued, "It has the potential to change the way we design and operate science labs and lab facilities. Given that there are well over a million hoods in use and each of them is consuming, on average, $8,000 a year in energy, adoption of this technology could greatly reduce the carbon footprint of these labs."

Fume hood technology has not significantly changed in over a half-century -- until now. The combined technology to bring this product to market did not exist a decade ago. But the lab of the future is now.

By utilizing Erlab's Neutrodine(r) filtration technology, the Green G3 is a safe, energy-efficient solution ideal for general laboratory use. These combined technologies take a well-proven traditional fume hood as a containment platform and, though enhanced airflow, provide a truly unique solution to the growing concerns of energy usage and chemical discharge of traditional chemical fume hoods, while increasing the level of safety for the user.

In addition, the incorporation of digital electronics into the hood now makes it a network device. With the controls and sensors onboard and a PC class computer, the fume hood has now entered the digital age. This brings about a level of real-time monitoring of performance that has never existed. The gGuard(r) software, developed with Microsoft(r), will insure that a network of up to 250 Green G3 fume hoods is operating safely all the time -- something no other hood technology can do.

As demonstrated in the growing adoption of the Labs21 Environmental Performance Criteria (EPC) and the growing movement of the LEED(r) Green Building Rating System, this technology also has the potential to be a significant contributor in achieving the goals of sustainable lab buildings. A product this innovative resists being put in a category; it's a hybrid, somewhere between a traditional chemical fume hood and a Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC). Much like what we are seeing in the automotive world, this technology is more like the new hydrogen car technology and less like its gasoline operated predecessor.

Advanced Lab Concepts is pleased to be working with Erlab to bring this technology to the market. The Green G3 equipped with the GreenFumeHood technology will be introduced on a limited basis in the 4th quarter of 2008 with a full rollout in early 2009. Adding the Green G3 to their line of "3" products (e3, G3, C3, B3), which includes adaptable lab furniture, fume hoods, casework, and biological safety cabinets, Advanced Lab Concepts provides a truly modular approach to laboratory furnishings, which would have been described as the lab of the future only a few years ago. The combined organizational experience of Advanced Lab Concepts and Erlab has the resources necessary to make the Green G3 the technology you will want to use in your lab.

About Advanced Lab Concepts

Advanced Lab Concepts, which recently acquired Collegedale, is one of the largest manufacturers of laboratory furniture and fume hoods in the United States. For over 50 years, Collegedale has been building lab space for schools, colleges, and universities. Advanced Lab Concepts began over 20 years ago as a laboratory ventilation and controls company, and expanded into manufacturing of lab furnishings. The new combined company is uniquely qualified to bring this technology to market. Learn more at http://www.GreenG3.com.

About Erlab

For 40 years, Erlab(r), a pioneer in field molecular filtration has had the know-how to offer the most efficient systems in terms of filtration quality and filter life. In fact, Erlab invented the first ductless filtering fume enclosure. Early technology had its limitations that made it better suited for specific applications, but now with the patented Neutrodine(r) technology, it is well suited for general fume hood use.

Today, the Erlab group, with 7 subsidiaries around the world (United States, Malaysia, Germany, Spain, Italy, UK and China) ensures the quality of its products and the safety of its users through its compliance with today's most demanding standard: the AFNOR NFX 15-211.
