TeraRecon Unveils 3D Image Management, Collaboration and Distribution Enhancements at AHRA 2008

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - July 27, 2008) - TeraRecon, Inc. (www.terarecon.com), a leader in advanced imaging processing technology and 3D visualization solutions, today announced new innovations for its Aquarius suite of advanced visualization offerings, which will be showcased by the company at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) society in Denver, Colorado, July 27-31, 2008.

At AHRA 2008, Radiology Administrators seeking to improve efficiency and increase revenues will be introduced to TeraRecon's new Aquarius iNtuition™ platform which enables streamlined workflow for advanced multi-detector CT examinations and other volumetric modalities such as MR and PET. Aquarius iNtuition features the unique innovation of "Workflow Templates" and "Workflow Scenes" which enable each clinical stakeholder involved in an advanced imaging procedure to access optimized and contextually-relevant tools, from wherever they may be in the healthcare enterprise via TeraRecon's industry-leading client-server advanced visualization technology.

"iNtuition's workflow concepts represent a true breakthrough in the simplification and optimization of advanced visualization and the management of volumetric imaging examinations such as MDCT," said Robert Taylor, Ph.D., president and COO of TeraRecon. "Aquarius iNtuition allows 3D technologists and expert interpreting physicians to instantly access powerful and comprehensive toolsets that facilitate the diagnostic process with greater speed and detail than would otherwise be possible, while still allowing this information to be delivered in a convenient and interactive package known as a Workflow Scene, to the ordering physician who is the ultimate end-user of the information."

Aquarius iNtuition's Workflow Scene concept allows an interpreting physician to use the Aquarius iNtuition client software to apply rich and powerful diagnostic tools to create a package of key images and measurements, which can be sent to the PACS for storage and delivered to a referring physician as a web link that they can open directly in their browser using the new AquariusWEB viewer. AquariusWEB opens each Scene as a set of volumetric saved states and allows further volumetric manipulation of these Scenes. AquariusWEB delivers a simple user interface designed to facilitate a volumetric view-only experience that has no training requirements and limits the user to viewing only the particular Scene that it opens. AquariusWEB uses only JavaScript technology running within the browser and as such requires no application software to be downloaded to the PC. This allows these volumetric and interactive Scenes to have a much broader reach and even to be reviewed by end users whom would otherwise prohibited by institutional security policies that prevent downloading software. The AquariusWEB viewer can also enable embedding of live, interactive Scenes into Electronic Medical Records and physician web portals. It is even possible to open and manipulate volumetric images on a JavaScript-capable PDA.

"Aquarius iNtuition technology and the AquariusWEB viewer together enable radiology to provide a far richer and more meaningful service to the rest of the healthcare enterprise, while at the same time increasing interpretation efficiency for large volumetric examinations, and enabling more advanced procedures such as CTA to be incorporated into the imaging portfolio of the radiology department," said Dr. Taylor. "This has the potential to increase the value that referring physicians see in radiology's services, and to simultaneously increase departmental productivity. We look forward to expounding upon the benefits of these innovations at the AHRA meeting in Colorado."
