Virgin Atlantic Receives Great Response to Its Aviation Medicine E-learning From Futuremedia Learning

BRIGHTON, England, Aug. 7, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Futuremedia Learning, a leading e-learning provider and a division of Futuremedia plc (OTCBB:FMDAY), is pleased to announce the successful launch of an online course in Aviation Medicine that it has created for Virgin Atlantic to train the airline's newly recruited cabin crew.

The course builds on the success of previous e-learning for cabin crew which triumphed at the E-learning Awards. The Aviation Medicine e-learning is part of a blended solution: recruits take the course a month before they attend the relevant face-to-face classroom training before they join the company, so it can be accessed at home or anywhere in the world where they have access to the internet. Initial results have been extremely positive. Learners arriving at the face-to-face-training have surprised the training instructors with their knowledge retention and the first in-house exam result following the launch of the new course structure had a 100% pass rate.

Futuremedia Learning's LMS, the Futuremedia Learner Tracking System (FLTS), was modified to meet the challenges of tracking results with a user base in homes and internet cafes around the world, cross-browser and multi-platform.

A modular approach was taken to allow the recruits to study in short sequences. The modules were between 10 and 55 minutes long totalling over 5 hours and 30 minutes of e-learning, although actual completion time depends on the individuals preferred method and pace of learning. The recruits are able to take the modules in any particular order to suit their own requirements, however the learner is advised to complete the course as displayed.

Pauline Reeb, E-learning Manager of Virgin Atlantic said:

"We are delighted to be working with Futuremedia Learning to produce this e-learning course for our new cabin crew. Giving our new recruits the opportunity to train at home before they attend the classroom course is proving invaluable and the results which have been achieved so far are testament to the highly technical and creative design of the course."

Andrea Miles, Managing Director of Futuremedia Learning said: "Virgin Atlantic came to us initially through the merger with ebc and I am delighted that we can continue to help them build on their success in e-learning. Designing for this target audience with the technical nature of the content presented had its own challenges and the support we had from the team at Virgin Atlantic was tremendous. I'm delighted to see that the initial results of our combined hard work have been so good."
