TOKYO, Aug. 11, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) (Nasdaq:IIJI) (TSE1:3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced the release of IIJ Mobile Secure Link, a free network connection tool for 3.5G mobile data communications services.
IIJ has leveraged its years of experience in providing security services for corporate customers and its experience with the IIJ Mobile Access Service to develop IIJ Mobile Secure Link. Users of data communications services, including IIJ Mobile and other carriers, can use IIJ Mobile Secure Link and enjoy increased convenience and security while reducing their system administration overhead.
IIJ Mobile Secure Link provides the following features.
* Compatible with data communications terminals and providers of 3.5G mobile services IIJ Mobile Secure Link can be used to make network connections with IIJ Mobile Access Service, NTT DOCOMO, and EMOBILE data communications terminals. In the past, each different data communications terminal required its own network connection software, which meant that system administrators had to support the different client environments that drove the data communications terminal. IIJ Mobile Secure Link provides a single client environment, which reduces this system administration overhead. * Compatible with both wireless and wired LAN environments On entry into the corporate wireless LAN or wired LAN environment, IIJ Mobile Secure Link makes it easy to switch the network connection from 3.5G mobile data communications services to the local network. It automatically displays the ideal connection method for the current environment based on factors such as user-specified connection priority and wireless signal strength, to make switching connections easy. * Compatible with VPN connections IIJ Mobile Secure Link has a single sign-on feature that enables simultaneous connection to the Internet and VPN, which enables anyone to easily and safely connect to a remote access environment. There is also a feature that restricts access to the Internet without using VPN, and this reduces exposure to security risks such as viruses and information leaks.
IIJ plans to release a commercial version of IIJ Mobile Secure Link that is customizable with the customer's company logo and customer-provided user manual, and includes many more features to support use of mobile systems for businesses, such as system administrator features that restrict user access to certain settings.
Through IIJ Mobile Secure Link and IIJ Mobile Access Services, IIJ will contribute to the creation of a more secure and convenient mobile environment.
