Ali Meyer Foundation Donates Nearly $19,000 for the Children's Hospital at 2008 Fundraiser

Foundation Has Given More Than $120,000 Since 2004

LAKEWOOD, CO--(Marketwire - August 21, 2008) - The Fourth Annual Ali Meyer Foundation Golf Tournament raised a record $18,750 this summer to benefit The Children's Hospital. Since its inception in 2004, the foundation has raised more than $120,000 for Children's.

The Ali Meyer Foundation was established by Dennis and Valerie Meyer in memory of their daughter, Ali, who died in late 2002 after being struck by a drunk driver in Jefferson County. The foundation raises money to help children who need rehabilitation equipment following accidents. It also works with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to increase awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving.

The tournament was held July 28, 2008, at Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden.

"We appreciate the support of our sponsors and the Fossil Trace Golf Club for helping us make a difference in the lives of so many young people who must seek recovery at The Children's Hospital," Dennis Meyer, who also owns Office Liquidators (www.officeliquidators.com) in Lakewood.

At the young age of 11, Ali Meyer was walking in her Jefferson County neighborhood when she was struck by a drunk driver. With the help of Children's, Ali fought hard to recover, but unfortunately passed away, as a result of her injuries, 20 months later at the age of 13. During this time, Ali Meyer had become a rallying point for people opposing a legislative plan that would have eliminated the requirement for front license plates in Colorado. A front license plate left at the scene of the crash led police to the driver who hit Ali.

"It's heartwarming to see our local businesses stepping forward to help these children and their families during a devastating time in their lives," said Dr. Joyce Oleszek, who served as one of Ali Meyer's rehabilitation doctors at The Children's Hospital. "I can attest to how important this money is for purchasing rehabilitation equipment for our young patients."

Major sponsors of the golf tournament included The Law Firm of Burg, Simpson, Eldredge, Hersh & Jardine, P.C.; S.P. Richards Company; Precis E-Business; Data393; Personal Attitudes; Terratectonics; Colorado Capital Bank; The HON Company; Denver West Realty; The Colorado Rockies, and Office Liquidators, Inc.

The Ali Meyer Foundation was formed in February 2004 as a Colorado nonprofit corporation and raises money through events such as the golf tournament. To get involved, donate or be added to the email alert for the July 27, 2009, golf tournament at Fossil Trace, visit www.alimeyer.org.
