AAA Texas: Be Aware of Potential Price Gouging
| Source: AAA Texas
HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - September 11, 2008) - AAA Texas encourages citizens to report any
incident of price gouging as you evacuate before the storm and on your
return to the area. The Texas Attorney General has issued warnings letting
potential gougers know they will be prosecuted.
Citizen reports from past disasters have listed services such as hotels,
gas stations, and convenience stores as the most frequent price gougers.
Goods that are most often subject to price gouging can include: gas,
batteries, drinking water and food.
"If you believe you are the victim of price gouging, keep your receipts and
file a report with the Attorney General's Office," AAA Texas spokesman Dan
Ronan said. "By submitting a report you can help ensure that others don't
also become victims."
To submit a report to the Attorney's General's office you can call:
1-800-252-8011. AAA Texas encourages citizens to remain proactive and alert
during evacuation and return travel.
