QuickTransit(R) Achieves Optimal Cross-Platform Virtualization Performance on Powerful Intel(R) Xeon(R) Processor 7400 Series
Leading Enterprise Software Vendors Including Transitive(R) Selected to Provide Applications That Showcase Capabilities of Latest Generation Xeon(R) Processors

LOS GATOS, CA--(Marketwire - September 15, 2008) - Transitive® Corporation, the leading
provider of cross-platform virtualization software, today announced that
its strategic business partner Intel is using Transitive's QuickTransit®
software to showcase the significant performance benefits of its
next-generation Intel® Xeon® processor 7400 series. As part of the
launch activities for the processors, which include up to six cores and
represent the new flagships of the Xeon product line, Intel emphasized the
performance enhancements experienced by several leading enterprise software
applications, including QuickTransit.
"The latest Intel Xeon processor 7400 series-based platforms are ideal for
our QuickTransit cross-platform virtualization solutions," said Alasdair
Rawsthorne, founder and CTO of Transitive Corporation. "By delivering more
cores per motherboard, Intel allows enterprise customers to consolidate
larger numbers of legacy workloads through virtualization, thereby
optimizing IT infrastructure, managing costs and minimizing risk. Using
this latest generation of Intel processor, QuickTransit can run legacy
Solaris/SPARC workloads many times faster than on the original legacy
hardware, without the need for porting or recompilation."
Transitive's QuickTransit cross-platform virtualization solutions enable
software applications to run on any hardware platform without any source
code or binary changes, and at speeds comparable to native ports. By
deploying QuickTransit on the latest enterprise server platforms,
enterprise data center managers can replicate workloads that were
previously tied to a single hardware platform and run them unmodified,
without incurring the costs and delays of porting projects, and without
disruption to end users. Furthermore, such comparatively easy workload
replication can provide the basis for more cost-effective business
continuity solutions, including disaster recovery, application scalability
and dynamic workload re-balancing.
"Enterprise datacenter managers seeking to reduce cost and complexity in
their environment while improving responsiveness to business needs are
looking to deploy servers based on the Intel Xeon processor for a range of
enterprise workloads once limited to expensive and proprietary
architectures," said Boyd Davis, general manager of Server Products Group
Marketing at Intel Corporation. "The exceptional performance, efficiency,
and value of the new Intel Xeon processor 7400 series combined with
Transitive's QuickTransit creates a compelling solution for customers
looking to accelerate their migration from RISC-based servers to standard
high-volume servers."
During the VMworld 2008 conference in Las Vegas on September 16-18, 2008,
Transitive will demonstrate QuickTransit running highly-consolidated
Solaris/SPARC virtualized workloads on an Intel Xeon processor 7400 series
server at Booth #435.
To address the most typical customer deployment scenarios, Transitive
offers three configurations of its QuickTransit enterprise products:
QuickTransit Workstation is intended for use on desktop and laptop PCs;
QuickTransit Server is used for large-scale datacenter consolidation
projects; and QuickTransit Legacy is a specialized version for application
re-hosting from older legacy hardware running operating system versions
that are no longer supported. The QuickTransit enterprise product line
includes QuickTransit for Solaris™/SPARC®-to-Solaris™/x86-64,
QuickTransit for Solaris™/SPARC®-to-Linux®/x86-64 and QuickTransit
for Solaris™/SPARC®-to-Linux®/Itanium®.
The QuickTransit product line is available from Transitive and its global
distribution partners, which include HP, Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Red
Hat. Evaluation versions of QuickTransit can be downloaded from the

About Transitive Corporation
Transitive is a leader in cross-platform virtualization, and its
award-winning QuickTransit technology is built into more than 15 million
computers worldwide. QuickTransit allows software applications that have
been compiled for one processor and operating system to run on systems with
different processors and operating systems, without any source code or
binary changes and at speeds comparable to native ports. As a result,
QuickTransit allows IT managers to quickly and easily replicate legacy
enterprise applications from the original hardware and run them on modern,
standardized platforms without incurring the costs and delays of porting
projects, and without disruption to end users. This workload replication
helps enterprise customers improve business continuity, including superior
disaster recovery, scalability and high-availability solutions.
Transitive's cross-platform virtualization technology is the foundation for
Apple's Rosetta translation software (built into Apple's Intel-based
Macintosh computers) and also for PowerVM Lx86, which is available for IBM
Power Systems enterprise servers. Transitive Corporation is located in Los
Gatos, California with a research and development team in Manchester, UK.
