Seattle Area Air Quality and Noise Team Joins ENVIRON


EMERYVILLE, CA--(Marketwire - September 25, 2008) - Ewire -- ENVIRON, a global environmental science, health, and sustainability consultancy, is pleased to announce the addition of several key air quality and noise staff members in the Pacific Northwest. According to Shari Libicki, ENVIRON's Air Quality Practice Leader, "The addition of these experts enhances ENVIRON's existing air quality services and adds new expertise in noise and odor measurement." The team includes four senior air quality scientists, each with 30 or more years of consulting experience: Eric Hansen, Principal; Richard Steffel, Principal Consultant; Kirk Winges, Principal Consultant; and Ken Richmond, Senior Manager.

Eric Hansen, Principal is an expert in air quality permitting for industrial facilities and has managed large permitting projects for wood products manufacturing facilities, pulp mills, chemical plants, cement plants, refineries, and electrical generation facilities. He has a loyal client following and the ability to manage large, complex environmental investigations.

Richard Steffel, Principal Consultant is an air quality and noise scientist and an expert in small-scale urban issues, particularly related to transit, transportation, and port infrastructure and operations projects. He is a mobile source emissions expert and an expert on NEPA and state environmental policy regulations. He also has extensive experience with federal and state Department of Transportation issues related to air quality and noise.

Kirk Winges, Principal Consultant is an atmospheric scientist with broad experience in all fields of air quality science. He is the author of the Fugitive Dust Model (FDM), an air quality model distributed by EPA in the mid-1990s and widely used throughout the US and abroad. He is an experienced air quality expert witness on complex topics such as atmospheric deposition, modeling, fugitive dust and odor.

Ken Richmond, Senior Manager is an expert in air quality modeling. An expert programmer, he has detailed knowledge of complex computer codes such as CALPUFF and AERMOD. He has extensive experience in all areas of air quality modeling including criteria pollutant assessments for NAAQS compliance, long-range transport modeling for Class I area issues, visibility, and air toxics release simulation.

The lead group is supported by scientists and engineers with extensive experience in air quality and environmental noise modeling, air and noise field measurement programs, odor measurement and characterization, BACT review, and other technical areas related to air quality and environmental noise. This group includes:

Kristen Wallace, Manager specializes in industrial and mineral mining and processing noise.

Bart Brashers, Manager specializes in air quality and meteorological modeling.
