WASHINGTON, Sept. 29, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading international law firm, announced today that Stephen Kinnaird, formerly of Sidley Austin LLP, has joined Paul Hastings as partner in the Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Kinnaird, an appellate specialist, will co-chair the Paul Hastings Supreme Court and appellate group.

Mr. Kinnaird is a former law clerk to Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court. He has represented clients at the U.S. Supreme Court, courts of appeals and district courts on matters involving energy, transportation, intellectual property, antitrust, administrative, environmental, telecommunications, criminal, and constitutional law.
Mr. Kinnaird has handled cases involving the Communications Act, the Interstate Commerce Act, the Federal Power Act, the Federal Railroad Safety Act, the Federal Employer's Liability Act, the Social Security Act, the Sherman and Robinson-Patman Acts, the Clean Water and Clean Air Acts, CERCLA, the Patent and Trademark Acts, ERISA, the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, and the Civil Rights Act; the Commerce, Due Process, and Takings Clauses; and the Seventh, Tenth, and Eleventh Amendments. He also served as a law clerk to Judge John M. Walker, Jr. of the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Mr. Kinnaird was a management consultant in the corporate strategy practice of Booz, Allen & Hamilton before entering the legal profession. Mr. Kinnaird is a graduate of Yale University, Oxford University (which he attended on a Rhodes Scholarship), and Yale Law School.
