Envista 1.1 is designed for utility companies, municipalities, or government agencies undertaking large, multi-year Infrastructure Replacement Programs (IRPs) to renew aging facilities such as pipelines and roadways. The new version offers increased performance and a wide range of new features for enhanced navigation, filtering and sorting project data, generating notification threads and auto notifications, as well as full support for the Firefox 3 web browser. The innovative map-based solution enables effective coordination of infrastructure projects with others working in the Right of Way, helps prevent third-party damage to infrastructure facilities, reduces unnecessary street cuts, and lessens disruptions for area residents and commuters. Highlights of Envista version 1.1
A major new feature in Envista 1.1 is the Project Cluster, which is used to group multiple projects into one icon on the user's area map when there are a large number of projects concentrated in an area. The Clusters feature reduces the amount of time required to display all projects on a map, and when zoomed out to view a larger area, give a general indication of the number of projects within the cluster.
The Envista map now displays routes for circular and semi-circular roadways so that they "stick" to the named street, rather than the shortest route. When a user double clicks on an individual project icon (or double clicks on a row in the list) the map will zoom and pan to display the entire length of the project route in the map window. In addition to feet and miles, meters can now be used as a unit of measure for defining offsets.
Other key features include a Spatial Filter allowing users to locate projects on a single street, within a specified radius (called a buffer), and between two points on a street. For example, if the user enters "State Street, Boston, MA" in the Spatial Filter, the results will only be projects that are located on State Street in Boston. A new Area Field provides a convenient way to describe the neighborhood or section of the city where the project is located (e.g., Back Bay, West Side, etc.). For greater convenience, filter settings for most of the basic filters (e.g., facility type, organization and status) are now saved between sessions.
Another enhancement is the Project Start and Completion Notification capability. Envista now creates and sends email notifications to project contacts prior to the start date or end date of a project. The system also now stores a complete record of notifications and replies that are viewable in the Envista Mailbox, even if the replies were sent from Microsoft Outlook or another email application.
Envista 1.1 supports the Firefox 3 web browser in addition to Internet Explorer. Both PDF and Excel Reports are now available for moratoriums, and moratoriums can be exported as well. System requirements can be found at the Envista web site: http://www.envista.com/ .
