No Market Slowdown for Synapse's SNAP Wireless Mesh Network Technology
New Release Provides Enhanced Security and Performance as More Companies Standardize on SNAP for Their Wireless Mesh Networks

HUNTSVILLE, AL--(Marketwire - October 23, 2008) - Synapse®, the technical leader of
easy-to-use, intelligent, wireless control and monitoring mesh networks,
today announced a new release of its proven, wireless mesh network
technology -- Synapse SNAP® 2.1 -- for companies designing embedded
products that need fast and reliable machine communication.
In spite of the general market downturn, Synapse's customer base has risen
sharply (30 percent increase in Q3), driving revenue growth by a factor of
5x over last year. Citing increased focus on productivity gains and energy
savings, customers claim that now is the time to press forward with new
product designs based on SNAP, Synapse's Wireless Mesh Network Protocol.
The Synapse advantage of easy application development and portability means
clients can rapidly and affordably complete their product designs with SNAP
and avoid the cost, risk and length of time for protocol development.
"Those of us who invest in the future now, especially in uncertain
financial times, are the ones who will come out strong when the economy
recovers," said Ovie Whitson, chief technologist of Metrum Technologies, a
leading developer of cellular based AMI and endpoint automation
technologies. "We believe in the strength of the marketplace, and with
Synapse's advanced, wireless mesh network technology, we plan to be ready."
Applications include the energy infrastructure, homeland security systems,
commercial irrigation systems, wastewater management, seismic monitoring,
HVAC, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), medical drug carts, and many
more. "The adoption of SNAP has become a key element of many companies'
strategic product development, and the release of SNAP 2.1 should
accelerate that trend," said Wade Patterson, CEO of Synapse.
The newly released SNAP 2.1 includes enhanced security support, better
performance and expanded connectivity. SNAP 2.1 also supports the standard,
protocol encryption called AES-128 for very high-level security
applications. Distributed by Digi-Key and Sager Electronics, SNAP 2.1
continues to lead in low-cost, low-power, wireless mesh networks designed
for ease and speed in OEM product development.
