Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announces today that the Greenville Hospital System (GHS) has deployed its newly-installed IMPAX® Radiology Information System (RIS). Greenville selected the Agfa HealthCare IMPAX RIS for its ability to be tightly integrated with its existing IMPAX PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System), allowing them to leverage persona-driven workflow for increased departmental efficiencies throughout the hospital enterprise.

Greenville has a four-pronged technology strategy:  to help improve the delivery of patient care by having access to a patient's complete medical history; to improve access to clinical results; to enhance process automation for care providers; and to eliminate the constraints of film- and paper-based records by having digital access to all information.  Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX solution is the core to integrating images and information across the radiology, cardiology, orthopedics, women's care departments, as well as the vascular lab and the operating rooms.

"Our decision to bring in Agfa HealthCare's RIS is in line with our strategy of investing in solutions that provide improvements in the ability to access information, enhance operational efficiencies and improve financial performance," said Doran Dunaway, Chief Information Officer, Greenville Hospital System. "Agfa HealthCare's integrated solution helps to optimize departmental operations and standardize medical imaging and diagnostic data access for our referring physicians so they can deliver enhanced productivity, workflow and efficiency."

Additional benefits for Greenville include faster turnaround of diagnostic imaging examinations and reduced wait times. The hospital's radiology department uses the system to share images and information to inpatient and outpatient units allowing physicians, orthopedic and general surgeons and the Emergency Room to benefit from point-of-care accessibility which enhances the delivery of care.

"Agfa HealthCare provides IT and imaging solutions that span the entire healthcare enterprise, enabling the persona driven workflow that can bring increased efficiencies to any healthcare facility," said Lenny J. Reznik, Director of Enterprise Imaging and Information, Agfa HealthCare, U.S. "We are pleased that Greenville has selected Agfa HealthCare as its partner in creating a single view of their medical imaging record and in bringing our integrated, high-quality solutions to its patients and physicians."
