Leading European Retailer Cactus SA Deploys QuickTransit(R) to Extend the Productive Life of Critical Enterprise Applications
Cross-Platform Virtualization Leader Transitive(R) Speeds and Simplifies the Re-Hosting of Financial Applications From Legacy Hardware to PRIMERGY(R) Linux(R)/x86 Systems
| Source: Transitive
AUGSBURG, GERMANY--(Marketwire - November 12, 2008) - Transitive® Corporation, the leading
provider of cross-platform virtualization solutions, today announced that
prominent Luxembourg retailer Cactus SA has deployed Transitive's
innovative QuickTransit® for Solaris™/SPARC®-to-Linux®/x86-64 solution
to re-host several of its most important enterprise applications on Fujitsu
Siemens Computers PRIMERGY systems with Linux.
"We are pleased to welcome Cactus as a QuickTransit customer, and
appreciate the role that our partners at Fujitsu Siemens Computers played
in successfully deploying this cross-platform virtualization solution in
record time," said Bob Wiederhold, CEO of Transitive. "As a result, Cactus
has been able to rapidly benefit from the cost savings and enhanced
productivity made possible by QuickTransit."
"We are strongly impressed by the PRIMERGY/Linux and QuickTransit Solaris
transition solution of Fujitsu Siemens Computers," said Serge Dublet, Head
of IT at Cactus SA. "The easy transfer of our old Solaris-based SAP R/3
applications to industry open standards with Intel® Xeon® processor-based
PRIMERGY systems and Linux -- without any need for costly re-coding efforts
-- was our biggest surprise. The new environment will start saving money
immediately."
Transitive's QuickTransit cross-platform virtualization solutions enable
software applications to run on any hardware platform without any source
code or binary changes, and at speeds comparable to native ports. By
deploying QuickTransit on the latest enterprise server platforms,
enterprise data center managers can replicate workloads that were
previously tied to a single hardware platform and run them unmodified,
without incurring the costs and delays of porting projects, and without
disruption to end users. Furthermore, such comparatively easy workload
replication can provide the basis for more cost-effective business
continuity solutions, including disaster recovery, application scalability
and dynamic workload re-balancing.
To address the most typical customer deployments, Transitive offers three
configurations of its QuickTransit product line: QuickTransit Workstation
is intended for use on desktop and laptop PCs; QuickTransit Server is used
for large-scale datacenter consolidation projects; and QuickTransit Legacy
is a specialized version for application re-hosting from very old legacy
hardware running operating system versions that are no longer supported.
Evaluation versions of QuickTransit can be downloaded from the Transitive
Web site at: http://www.transitive.com/evaluate.
Transitive also offers a free Adobe® Reader® solution for Solaris/x86 users
requiring fully-functional Portable Document Format (PDF) viewing
capabilities. QuickTransit for Solaris/x86 with Adobe Reader can be
downloaded from the Transitive Web site at:
http://www.transitive.com/reader.
Transitive will participate in the VISIT 2008 conference for Fujitsu
Siemens enterprise customers in Augsburg, Germany during November 12-13,
2008.
