Telvent Wins Contract to Implement 511 System in Pennsylvania

The 511 System Will Provide Critical State-Wide Traveler Information to Commuters

MADRID, Spain, Nov. 18, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent (Nasdaq:TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced today that it has been selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to implement the new 511 Pennsylvania. Telvent will serve as the prime contractor and is teaming with Verizon, INRIX, Telecom Horizon Partners, Jacobs Engineering Group, E-Squared Engineering, Wolfe Doyle Advertising, ASTI Transportation Systems, Inc., and SAVVIS. The contract will last approximately 3 years and is valued at more than eight million euros.

The project's objective is to provide services to design, build, implement, operate, host and maintain a state-wide traveler information service entitled "511 Pennsylvania" that not only meets PennDOT's short-term goals, but also provides a basis on which additional functionality can be added to address long-term goals and future needs.

By summer 2009, 511 Pennsylvania will:

 * Provide timely and accurate traveler information to customers at no
   cost to them
 * Be accessible to customers by both telephone and the Internet
 * Proactively alert customers of traffic issues through email and
   text message alerts
 * Utilize public and private data sources
 * Provide direct access to current traveler information services
provided by the PA Turnpike Commission
 * Develop and maintain public awareness of the service through
   effective marketing

After summer 2009, the system will be expanded to provide:

 * Greater access to transit and air travel content in metropolitan
   areas throughout the state
 * Additional content, features and/or value-added services to be
   determined
 * Continue to operate and maintain the service

511 Pennsylvania will relay travel, inter-modal, and weather information to all commuters via the internet and the free 511 telephone number. All commuters will be able to access this information freely and easily. This increased stream of information and knowledge to drivers will reduce accidents and congestion while increasing safety and mobility in Pennsylvania. According to Telvent's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Manuel Sanchez, "Telvent is thrilled to use our superior knowledge and experience in implementing 511 systems to help Pennsylvania make their roadways more efficient and eco-friendly through the provision of timely and accurate travel information. Our goal is to help travelers reach their destinations as quickly and safely as possible."

Telvent has extensive experience working on implementing 511 systems. The firm led the effort in implementing the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) 511 system in California. The New York State 511 deployment effort is another significant project that the firm is proud to lead. Now Telvent is looking forward to working hand-in-glove with the PennDOT to successfully implement 511 Pennsylvania.
