MALIBU, Calif., Jan. 9, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Recent and upcoming theatrical titles will lead a large package of feature films and television properties from Empire Film Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:EFGU) (http://www.empirefilmgroup.com) that will be presented later this month at the National Association of Television Programming Executives (NATPE) conference in Las Vegas. The acclaimed theatrical drama "Hounddog" will lead the programming slate, along with upcoming theatrical releases and key titles selected from more than 200 properties owned or controlled by Empire and its distribution subsidiary, Hannover House.
"We have a solid line-up of films and genre-specific packages for the worldwide television markets," said Dean Hamilton-Bornstein, CEO of Empire Film Group, Inc. "Building on the momentum of our current and upcoming theatrical titles, we have assembled individual offerings and package opportunities that should be very attractive to television broadcasters and cable networks in the USA and throughout the world."
"Hounddog," a high profile drama starring Dakota Fanning, has generated significant interest from television broadcasters and Empire expects to close a licensing agreement for the film at NATPE. Four additional key titles will lead genre-specific packages of films, and a formal listing of Empire title offerings will be announced on January 26th, contemporaneous with the first day of the three-day sales conference.
"This is an exciting time for Empire," said Bornstein. "We spent most of our time and energies last year in building up titles and momentum that is now being realized as revenues for 2009 and 2010. NATPE is the first major industry conference where a large number of Empire titles will be presented, and the company is positioned to close a lot of deals."
In a related development, Empire reports that the DVD and Blu-Ray pre-orders for the February 3rd release of "Hounddog" in the U.S. marketplace exceeded company targets by nearly 200%. The company has also acquired over twenty new titles in the past three months, most of which will also be released to the USA home video markets, and licensed to television programmers.
