EnerNOC Sponsors 2009 MIT Clean Energy Prize

Company Announces Support for World's Leading Energy Entrepreneurship Competition

BOSTON, Feb. 4, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EnerNOC, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENOC), a leading developer and provider of clean and intelligent energy solutions, today announced that it is sponsoring the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Clean Energy Prize. The MIT Clean Energy Prize is a top business plan competition open to all full-time students in the United States. Winning teams will receive cash and other prizes including legal advice and administrative support to help commercialize clean energy innovations in Massachusetts and throughout the world. Total prize awards are valued at over $500,000.

EnerNOC, which offers energy efficiency technologies and other smart grid applications that enable commercial, institutional, and industrial customers to achieve low-cost and no-cost energy savings, is sponsoring the energy efficiency category.

"Energy efficiency and other smart grid applications represent some of the largest and most cost-effective opportunities for our nation to become more energy independent. By supporting the MIT Clean Energy Prize, EnerNOC is supporting the next wave of entrepreneurs who will help us capitalize on that opportunity," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC. "In addition, supporting the MIT Clean Energy Prize attracts more clean energy innovators to Massachusetts, creates green jobs, and enhances the region's position as the hub of clean tech innovation."

"Our goal is to provide game-changers in the energy industry with the resources they need to provide breakthrough technologies that will redefine the energy landscape," said MIT President Susan Hockfield. "We're grateful that EnerNOC honors its position as a leader in the clean tech industry not only by supporting the Clean Energy Prize, but also by staying actively involved in the MIT community."

The 2009 MIT Clean Energy Prize is affiliated with MIT's $100K Entrepreneurship Competition - the world's leading university entrepreneurship competition. Notable alumni of the competition include companies like Akamai and Direct Hit (acquired by AskJeeves).

"MIT's Entrepreneurship Competitions have been the driving force behind many of the companies that reshaped the Internet era. We support this initiative because we hope it has the same impact on the evolution of smart grid applications and the further development of the clean tech ecosystem," continued Healy.
