Smiling Moose Deli Receives 2008 Award for Fastest Growth in First Year From the International Franchise Association, Colorado Chapter

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - February 17, 2009) - In 2008, a year during which hundreds of restaurants struggled or closed down, the Smiling Moose Deli experienced 97 percent growth and was presented with the "Fastest Growth in First Year for 2008 Award" by the International Franchise Association's (IFA) Colorado Chapter.

Smiling Moose Deli, Inc. launched its first store in 2003 in Edwards, Colorado. Within five years, it rapidly expanded to 13 stores located throughout the state. In 2008, same stores sales were up six percent.

During the same period, the deli's centralized catering program experienced a phenomenal 300 percent growth. Business to business catering orders are received at a central call center by specially trained customer service staff, and then orders are fulfilled by the appropriate store location.

Franchise interest in Smiling Moose Deli is currently on the increase from several states including Washington, Missouri, Arizona, and Wyoming.

Sloane attributed the company's success to maintaining value and providing a higher quality product as opposed to offering lesser quality at a lower price.

Smiling Moose Deli's menu consists of whimsical and diverse options including crisp, hearty salads, savory soups, cold and hot sandwiches, healthy wraps and much more. Recently, "The Mighty Mo!," one of Smiling Moose's signature sandwiches helped Smiling Moose Deli win "Best Sandwich Shop" honors from Vail Daily's Best of Vail Valley 2008.
