Seminar to Address Compliance for Effective Mail Security Planning: New Federal Regulation Has August 2009 Deadline

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On March 26, 2009 SoBran, Inc. will conduct a Federal Management Regulation 41 CFR 102.192.70-80 compliance information and planning seminar at the Washington, DC City Club. Geared toward federal mailroom managers, the session will detail the regulation, identify and specify requirements, and cover the steps necessary to ensure compliance. Mail center security plan development and compliance experts, Don Shanks and Keith James will provide the information attendees need to fully understand, plan for, and meet the August 25, 2009 deadline.

Supporting the National Infrastructure Protection Plan, the regulation directs all Federal mail centers, regardless of size, to develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-element security plan. The requirement includes implementing and annually reviewing security plans including risk assessment, operating procedure development and implementation, visible mail screening operations, training, emergency response test and rehearsals, threat management, and the development of Communication, Occupant Emergency, and Continuity of Operation Plans.

Since 2001, SoBran, Inc has specialized in developing and implementing mail center security programs that meet or exceed this requirement at the nation's most sensitive and high profile mail screening facilities. Mr. Shanks and Mr. James provide input to national mail and security programs and have lectured at national mail security conferences. In 2006, they spearheaded the development of SoBran's nationally recognized SafeMail(r) threat prevention and mailroom security program.

Seminar participants will gain a clear insight into the regulation and a basic roadmap to meeting those requirements. The seminar agenda includes: a detailed review of the regulation, an overview of each element, and a discussion of the steps individual mailrooms need to take to successfully plan, develop, and implement the new federal regulations.

The seminar begins at 8:30 AM, and will adjourn around 11:00 AM. The City Club of Washington is located at 1300 I Street, NW Washington, DC (Franklin Square). There is a $65.00 fee and pre-registration is required. Please register online at http://sobran.timberlakepublishing.com/content.asp?admin=Y&contentid=874.
