SANDY, UT--(Marketwire - February 24, 2009) - Opengear (www.Opengear.com), a leading provider
of next-generation console
server solutions, today announced that it has seen record order
bookings and growth through the economic downturn.
"The economic conditions are accelerating open source adoption in
businesses around the world and our console server products have enjoyed
tremendous success with our new open source tools for power management,"
said Todd Rychecky, VP Sales and Marketing of Opengear. "Traditional
console servers are limited in their functionality but by bringing together
leading open source solutions from projects including Nagios, NUT and
PowerMan, Opengear is making a product that allows for more efficient
management of everything you find in a datacenter including routers,
switches, servers, firewalls, uninterruptible power supplies, power
distribution units and environmental monitoring devices."
Opengear experienced record order bookings in the fourth quarter of 2008
ending December 31, 2008 and has started off the first quarter of 2009 with
what will be a record first quarter for the company despite the economic
slowdown. Opengear attributes their success to an increase in new channel
partners and customers, leading edge marketing initiatives, next generation
product features and the best customer service and technical support in the
console server market space. Opengear recently received industry
accolades, voted as one of the top 25 open source channel vendors in the
Open Source 50 report, compiled by Nine Lives Media and IT channel site

Customers such as Banff International Research Station in Banff, Alberta,
Canada reaffirm these sentiments and further validate why Opengear has been
successful over the past year. "Opengear has provided BIRS with not only a
great product for secure remote management of our servers through the
CM4008 but it has also demonstrated outstanding customer service," said
Brent Kearney, systems analyst with the Banff International Research
Station. "Opengear has continued to surpass our expectations as we expand
and order new solutions from them. Highly recommended!"
Opengear expects 2009 to be a record year. "It seems every day another
customer comes to us from one of our competitors and exclaims, 'Why did it
take me so long to find you,'" says Todd Rychecky, VP Sales and Marketing
of Opengear. "We solve problems with open source that our competitors
cannot or choose not to do and in this type of economic climate it is the
kiss of death for any organization."
