Finnair to suspend Mumbai route for the summer

Finnair has decided to suspend its route to Mumbai in India temporarily from
May until mid-October.

The decision was made due to the unfavourable economic conditions affecting
both passenger and cargo sales in India and Europe. There is also overcapacity
on Mumbai-Europe routes.

"The overcapacity has driven air fare levels radically down and cost level has
not declined respectively. Market conditions for the entire summer period look
bleak. Summer is clearly more difficult than winter season on the Mumbai
route", says VP for Finnair's network strategies Petteri Kostermaa.

The Helsinki-Mumbai route is currently operated four times per week. Finnair's
route between Helsinki and Delhi will be operated daily as planned also during
the summer period.
