TeraRecon Announces Leading Market Share and 10,000 Concurrent Users for Aquarius

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - March 15, 2009) - TeraRecon (www.terarecon.com), a leader in
advanced imaging processing technology and solutions, today announced it
has achieved greater than 10,000 licensed concurrent users globally for its
Aquarius advanced visualization solution, giving the company by far the
greatest market share in the direct-to-end-user market for advanced
visualization.
TeraRecon president and chief operating officer, Robert Taylor, Ph.D.,
said, "TeraRecon provides server-based access to advanced visualization for
multiple users per server, and unlike most other companies in this space,
we operate almost exclusively in the direct-to-end-user market, where every
purchase is the result of a careful evaluation of TeraRecon's technology in
contrast to the competing solutions available in the market. These
implementations are typically much larger and more often represent truly
enterprise-wide deployments. Our installed base of servers has now grown
to the point where even by the most conservative estimates, more than
10,000 users are able to access our solutions concurrently, far more than
the number of licensed users any independent competitor can claim, for
applications of the nature offered by the company."
Dr. Taylor continued, "Most competing advanced visualization solutions are
offered bundled with a modality purchase, such as CT or MR, and hence in
these situations, the majority of installations result because the modality
was chosen, rather than the advanced visualization solution per se, and are
in large part simple, single-seat workstations with limited features. It
is less common for an objective comparison of competing technologies to be
made in this situation by the customer. TeraRecon on the other hand
achieves almost all its sales by providing a unified server-side rendering
solution for the entire department or enterprise, as an alternative to the
isolated workstation provided with scanners. Every purchasing decision is
made after careful consideration of the alternatives by the end user and
therefore our products are deeply integrated into the multi-specialty
workflow of these institutions from the outset. While other companies can
achieve significant installed-base numbers thanks to 'workstation' sales
through their modality partners, no other company can claim the penetration
of solutions that TeraRecon can, in the market of direct purchases of
advanced visualization solutions by medical imaging facilities.
Furthermore, we are encouraged to see that the company's market share is
growing, and that it is forecast to grow more in the coming year, when we
consider the sales forecasts of our competitors in comparison to our own."
