LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 23, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS), the eminent membership association for measurement professionals, announced today it will host its 25th Annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC) from July 20-24, 2009 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, Kentucky. Each year, the CMS community convenes to learn about emerging technology and attend white paper presentations delivered by their peers. To commemorate their Silver Anniversary, the Coordinate Metrology Society has launched an all new web site at www.cmsc.org to better serve the informational needs of their growing membership.
The five-day event is the only North American conference that uniquely serves professional and novice users of portable 3D coordinate measurement technology. The conference offers many educational venues including white papers presented by expert users from leading companies and universities, informative workshops, user group meetings, and a large Exhibitor Hall showcasing portable coordinate measurement systems (PCMMs), software, accessories, peripherals, inspection and measurement service providers. Also during the week, the Coordinate Metrology Society hosts networking events, a membership banquet and entertainment, and a local tour.
Many topics, applications, and industry best practices were presented at CMSC 2008, from 3D scanning in the Gobi desert, to the precision alignment of the Forward Pixel Detector at CERN, to nuclear power plant refurbishment, to revitalizing the Space Shuttle's Thermal Protection system, to the use of 3D metrology in the automotive development process. Conference attendees hail from science/research laboratories and diverse industries such as aerospace, space hardware, antenna, automotive, shipbuilding, power generation, and general engineering.
The CMSC is renown for its open, educational atmosphere where attendees can fraternize with a community of expert and novice users and learn about the latest trends and innovations in the field. The portable 3D industrial measurement technology exhibited at the conference includes industrial photogrammetry solutions, laser trackers, laser radars, GPS systems, laser scanners, laser projection systems, articulating arms, theodolites and more.
Interested attendees or exhibitors will find detailed information about the conference by visiting http://www.cmsc.org.
Call for Papers Continues until April 10, 2009
The Coordinate Measurement Society continues their Call For Papers and invites end users of portable metrology equipment to submit proposals for white papers covering the successful application of 3D coordinate measurement systems in a variety of industries and science laboratories. Abstracts should be submitted no later than April 10, 2009 via email to presentations@cmsc.org. Notice of acceptance will occur on April 24, 2009. Accepted white papers will be peer reviewed and considered for publication in the Journal of the CMSC. For guidelines or more information about presenting a white paper at CMSC 2009, see Presenters on the CMSC web site, www.cmsc.org or contact Scott Sandwith, Technical Presentations Coordinator at presentations@cmsc.org.
