Boliden maintains reduced copper production

With reference to the continued weak market situation, Boliden is maintaining
the previously announced cuts in copper production.

The production reductions announced on 30th January 2009 entailed the production
of copper metal being reduced by approximately 68,000 tonnes, on an annual
basis, during the first quarter of 2009. Boliden is maintaining this reduction
going forward.

The cuts in production affect the copper smelters at Rönnskär in Sweden and
Harjavalta in Finland with possible temporary lay-offs at Harjavalta.

The Boliden Group produced approximately 350,000 tonnes of copper in 2008.
