Joseph Smolinsky Joins Weil Gotshal's Preeminent Business Finance & Restructuring Practice

Appointment Complements Firm's Leading Position in Debtor Restructuring Cases


NEW YORK, April 1, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that Joseph Smolinsky will join the firm as a Partner in its Business Finance & Restructuring practice in the New York office.

Mr. Smolinsky has over 20 years experience in bankruptcy law. Prior to joining Weil Gotshal, he was a partner at Chadbourne & Parke LLP, where he advised corporations, borrowers, lenders, investors and creditors on Chapter 11 restructuring cases. Mr. Smolinsky has been involved in a number of recent high profile cases, including TOUSA, Refco, Calpine and Mirant. He started his legal career as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Conrad B. Duberstein, Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of New York.
