RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL--(Marketwire - April 6, 2009) - MMX Mineração e Metálicos S.A.
(BOVESPA: MMXM3) hereby informs its shareholders and the market in general
that a new Technical Report of Serra Azul's mineral resources
(AVG/Minerminas) has been concluded, according to the National Instrument
NI-43.101 of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA). The norms
NI-43.101 presents specific technical information for the reserves and
resources mineral estimative, which must be obtained through best practice
techniques in mineral research, internationally recognized.
The Report was audited by SRK Consulting, a company specialized in geology
and independent mining, in accordance to the rules of the Canadian
Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM Standards).
The new resource estimate provided in this report was based on exploration
data surveyed by MMX up to November 2008 and enables the certification of
measured, indicated and inferred resources, in total of 515Mt, which
represents an increase of approximately 5 times in relation to resources
certificated in 2008, as announced in January 25, 2008.
The current total resources and reserves of Serra Azul are presented on the

Additionally, potential resources were estimated in a range of 140 to 800
million tons. The drilling campaign is still in progress and it aims to
certify in 2009 the Bom Sucesso resources, as well as to update the Serra
