MALIBU, Calif., April 7, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Two major non-fiction books, one biography and two significant novels lead an impressive new release slate of book titles from Hannover House for 2009, the company announced today. Hannover House, a successful and respected independent book publisher founded in 1993, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Empire Film Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:EFGU) (http://www.empirefilmgroup.com).
"Dangerous Secrets: The JFK-Marilyn Monroe Files" is an extensively investigated expose' from author Donald Wolfe that presents startling new evidence of a secret relationship between the 35th American President and the most celebrated film star of the 20th century.
"Made In The USA" is best-selling author Barr McClellan's long anticipated study of the detrimental economic ramifications of exporting manufacturing jobs overseas. McClellan's previous book for Hannover House shot to #1 in sales on Amazon.com in 2003.
"Boardinghouse Stew" is the acclaimed and inspiring debut novel from Evelyn E. Smith, loosely based on real-life incidents that happened to her and to some of those living in and around a boardinghouse in Sacramento, California during World War II.
"Fiji" from New Zealand authors Lance and James Morcan is a dramatic, historical epic of a clash of cultures and forbidden love between an English ship's captain and a South Pacific Island girl. The sweeping scope of the novel makes it especially suitable for development into a major feature film.
"One of the Lucky Ones" is the authorized biography of Nicole Holland, a member of the French Resistance during World War II, as written and retold by her daughter, Brenda Hancock. Holland, who was forced to keep her Jewish ancestry a secret in order to survive in Nazi-occupied France, came to America after the war as the wife of an American soldier.
All five books will be released as hard-cover / cloth-bindery editions to book stores, mass merchants, schools, libraries and internet retailers by Hannover House during the summer and fall book seasons this year, said company President, Fred Shefte. "Dangerous Secrets" and "Made in the USA" are also expected to be released in a paperback edition for spring, 2010. The other three titles, "Boardinghouse Stew", "Fiji" and "One of the Lucky Ones," will be considered for development into feature films through Hannover's relationship with parent company, Empire Film Group, Inc.
"We are pleased to have such a diverse and commercially strong line-up of new books for Hannover in 2009," said Eric Parkinson, CEO. "Each title has a large and accessible market of readers, and collectively should position the company for a record year in both sales and profits."
Other top book titles for Hannover House include Barr McClellan's 2003 hit, "Blood, Money & Power: How L.B.J. Killed J.F.K." and two critically acclaimed suspense thrillers from Vivian Schilling, "Sacred Prey" and "Quietus."
Hannover House is a wholly owned subsidiary of Empire Film Group, Inc., one of only four full-service independent film distributors servicing the North American markets for theatrical and video releases.
