HOLLYWOOD, CA--(Marketwire - April 8, 2009) - AMediaVision's independent feature film
"Reach For Me" swept the top two awards at the Lake Arrowhead International
Film Festival, taking home both the Best Feature Film and Best of the
Festival Awards. "'Reach For Me' resonated with every member in the
audience; its message came home and is still with them today. The only
criticism I received was that we didn't have enough kleenex in the theatre!
This was our best attended film and the win was a unanimous decision," said
Mary Dippell, Lake Arrowhead Festival Director.
The film, which had its World Premiere Gala Selection at the Oldenburg
Film Festival, is the story of Alvin (Academy Award Nominee Seymour Cassel)
who simply wants some peace and quiet in his final days, but his young
hospice roommate Kevin (Johnny Whitworth) has decided to enjoy every minute
to its fullest. Kevin's girlfriend Sarah (Lacey Chabert) is determined to
make Kevin's last moments fun and meaningful, in turn forcing Alvin to
reflect on his own life.
Directed by LeVar Burton and written by Michael Bruce Adams, it also stars
Johnny Whitworth, Lacey Chabert, Adrienne Barbeau and Academy Award
Nominee/multiple Emmy Award Winner Alfre Woodard.
This announcement comes on the heels of AMV's U.S. premiere of "Taken In
Broad Daylight," the story of a teen kidnapping, which aired on the
Lifetime Movie Network on February 15, 2009, as the third highest rated
Sunday night movie in the network's broadcast history.
"We are so incredibly humbled, honored and delighted," said Charlene
Blaine-Schulenburg, CEO/President of AMediaVision Productions, "to know
that the film resonated so well with the audiences that they have
recognized us in this fashion. It is a true testament to the entire team
that created this from the astounding on screen talent, to the story
itself, to the production crew who made it all happen."
