St. Bernard Announces Auto-Login for Macs to iPrism Web Filter

Provides Greater Controls and Seamless Integration of Policy Across OS X Platforms Without Any Additional Software or Client Required

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - April 20, 2009) - St. Bernard Software, Inc. (OTCBB: SBSW), a leader in Web security appliances, today announced the latest software upgrade to its iPrism Web Filter, v6.3, providing an Auto-Login (or Single Sign-on) feature for Macs running Tiger or Leopard. This new functionality expands the authentication capabilities of iPrism enjoyed by Windows users today by offering an easy way to identify Mac workstations without additional software.

With iPrism v6.3, customers can use the Web filter with Mac workstations just like they do with Windows systems, applying a ubiquitous policy across the network regardless of the platform. iPrism v6.3 doesn't require any additional software on any system in the network, so the process is both easy and convenient for overburdened IT staff. Since educational institutions often end up with a collection of Mac and Windows computers when blending legacy with new equipment, iPrism v6.3 allows schools to bridge their Apple and Microsoft users with the same industry-leading security and creates a cohesive computing atmosphere.

iPrism v6.3 supports Active Directory 2008 authentication using Kerberos and LDAP v3, making iPrism an even more powerful and flexible Internet filtering solution for customers. Mac clients can now take advantage of Auto-Login from OSX Tiger and Leopard clients. By using the Directory Utility function, users can bind the clients to the same Directory service as iPrism. Those who don't bind clients to Active Directory can use a locally-cached credential with a one-time prompt from iPrism. This feature is available in proxy and iPrism's exclusive transparent bridge modes.

"Education customers have been eagerly waiting for the ability to seamlessly authenticate and enforce policy to both Apple and Microsoft computers," said Shawn Swanby, president at Ednetics, Inc., a leading provider of technology solutions to the education community. "St. Bernard has delivered innovative Web filtering technologies aimed to protect against malware and other security threats while safeguarding students' online experience. We are pleased to see them provide this critical functionality to the education community."

"Integration across blended Mac and Windows platforms has proved challenging for IT administrators and seamless authentication has been a sticking point in the industry for quite a while," said Steve Yin, vice president of global sales and marketing at St. Bernard. "To make the authentication process even easier for administrators, iPrism is the only Internet filter on the market that doesn't require any additional software or client on any system in the network. This release further allows our customers to more effectively and efficiently meet compliance requirements in the education environment, while preventing Web-related threats regardless of platform used."
