Bittersweet Memoirs From Outhouse To Outer Space -- Ed Jones Bares His Heart and Mind in This Stirring Biography

PUYALLUP, Wash., April 24, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Be inspired in a touching tale of life's bitter and sweet moments as author Ed Jones opens his door to take you From Outhouse To Outer Space in his photo-journal biography.

In his fascinating memoir, he tells his true story -- from the many happy and tragic times he encountered to the death of his father, from his learning from the Indians to his traveling by freight train or a car through the states of Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico trying to find his mother. He reveals his mind and heart as he remembers his experiences during WWII -- both in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army. He recalls having to go through different jobs: interpreted for the Army after he learned to speak German, preached at a German Church, became a service station attendant, and delivered packages for the United Parcel Service. He was working for Williams Trucking delivering steel for Ducommun Metals when he was approached by the Supervisor of The Jet Propulsion Laboratory to work for them. He eventually ended up working in the Hydro Lab and worked on many projects for the space program. Jones also fondly reminisces the moments with his wife and children.

About the Author

Ed D. Jones lost his father at a very young age. He was kicked out of home before his tenth birthday and he had to find his own way during the Great Depression. He lived on an Indian Reservation and eventually learned to take care of himself. For four years, he traveled through Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico before finding his mother. He completed High School and wanted to serve his country. He was too young for the Army so he joined the Merchant Marines instead. The third ship that sunk ended up having him as a prisoner. He later joined the Army. After he got home, he went to work for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California and worked on many space programs.
