Nomura Is Back On Top as "Institutional Investor's" Best Sales Team for Japanese Equities
UBS Is Rated the Best in Small & Midcap Equities Sales

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 27, 2009) - After spending last year in second place,
Nomura Securities Co. reclaims top honors as the Best Overall Sales Team
for Japanese equities, according to participants in "Institutional
Investor's" 2009 survey of Japan's Best Sales Teams. Full results are

This year marks Nomura's fifth appearance at the top in the past six years.
UBS, which unseated Nomura last year, slips to second place, while Nikko
Citi rises one rung to capture third place.
Although UBS loses the top spot in overall sales, the Swiss bank is No. 1
in a separate "Institutional Investor's" ranking of Japanese Small & Midcap
Equities sales teams, jumping from No. 3 last year. Ichiyoshi Securities
skyrockets from No. 8 to No. 2, and Nikko Citi zips from No. 7 to No. 3.

Sales teams, "Institutional Investor's" surveyed portfolio managers,
buy-side analysts, directors of research, and other investment management
professionals at firms that manage Japanese equities. This year's survey is
based on the opinions of more than 450 individuals at nearly 200 firms both
in Japan and abroad.
