SoBran Sponsors Hometown Heroes Celebration

FAIRFAX, Va., April 30, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SoBran, Inc. is proud to once again serve as a sponsor for the Dayton (OH) Region's Hometown Heroes Celebration. For the past five years, the Dayton Development Coalition has partnered with the Dayton Dragons baseball team to host this season-long program honoring the families of deployed service men and women.

"We believe that the Hometown Heroes Celebration is an exceptional program to show our support for the families of the people doing the 'heavy lifting' for us in the Middle East," said SoBran's president and founder, Amos Otis. "This celebration honors all the heroes of our nation, both the service members and their families, who face unique challenges and deserve our respect and recognition."

Supported by regional businesses, elected officials, and the leadership of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Springfield Air National Guard Base, the Hometown Heroes Celebration features a number of components. During each of the 70 Dragons' home games, a local family of a deployed service man or woman receives a full VIP treatment, including choice tickets to the game. On five of these games, the family comes down on the field to see a video greeting message from their loved one overseas. The Dragons put the game on hold as the fans routinely give a standing ovation to the family to thank them and show their support.

During one Dragons game each year, the program honors our local Hometown Heroes who missed out on important family milestones while fulfilling their military duties on deployment. These milestones could be a child's birthday, a wedding anniversary, or Mother's Day or Father's Day. The families enjoy a pre-game party and then receive recognition during the game.

Two other very special nights honor local men and women from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Springfield Air National Guard Base. These Celebration Nights feature a range of pre-game festivities, plaza activities, special guests, video greeting cards, new Air Force recruit swear-ins, and even WPAFB officers addressing the crowd.

When asked about the importance of the events, SoBran's Otis said: "SoBran wants to show our support and our admiration for the men and women of the Miami Valley from the Wright-Patterson and Springfield ANG bases. Their dedication and sacrifices to our country enable us as a nation to prosper and grow. We all need to pause and to thank the members and their family; the Celebration provides us with this opportunity to say 'Thank You'."

Otis, a retired Air Force officer, stressed that SoBran is a strong supporter of charitable organizations that minimize the stress and problems encountered by military families. Additionally, SoBran has strong roots in the Miami Valley and Dayton area.

"The Dayton community has been very nourishing of SoBran's development and success," he said. "The employees of the Miami Valley are intelligent, hardworking loyal members of the SoBran team and we support them and their families whenever possible."
