| Source: VMware, Inc.
PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - May 18, 2009) - VMware, Inc. (NYSE : VMW ), the global leader
in virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, today
announced that VMware Infrastructure 3.5 has been named the winner of the
Best of Tech·Ed 2009 awards in the virtualization category by Penton
Media's Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine. Winners were announced on
May 13, 2009.
The Best of Tech·Ed 2009 Awards recognize the innovative products and
services showcased at Microsoft Tech·Ed North America 2009. The judges
reviewed more than 170 products and services submitted for the contest and
chose 35 finalists to be interviewed at the Tech·Ed 2009 IT Pro Conference
in Los Angeles, California.
"Every year, selecting winners from the outstanding pool of highly
qualified nominations is challenging, with this year's submissions no
exception," said Jeff James, IT Group editor in chief and Web content
strategist. "Our judging criteria -- innovation, strategic importance to
the market, competitive advantage and value to customers -- are clearly
reflected in the winners' products."
VMware Infrastructure 3.5 provides the capability for automatic load
balancing, business continuity and power management and the ability to move
a virtual machine across physical machines to minimize service
interruption. With more than 200 industry and technology awards, VMware is
the only vendor delivering the full spectrum of virtualization products --
from a base hypervisor platform to a bundle of application and
infrastructure management solutions to full suites of desktop and
datacenter virtualization solutions. Now with VMware vSphere™ 4, the
industry's first operating system for building the internal cloud, VMware
will further enable the delivery of efficient, flexible and reliable IT as
a service.
"We are thrilled to be honored with the Best of Tech·Ed award for the
second consecutive year," said Raghu Raghuram, vice president and general
manager, server business unit, VMware. "This award underscores our industry
leadership in providing virtualization solutions that drive customer
benefits. It also validates why thousands of companies rely on VMware to
optimize their datacenters, streamline management, improve application
performance, and maximize ROI. We look forward to raising the bar even
further with the upcoming general availability of VMware vSphere™ 4
which will give customers unparalleled efficiency, control and choice for
their IT environments."
