LXI Consortium Adds University Membership Category

NIWOT, CO--(Marketwire - May 27, 2009) - The LXI Consortium, a not-for-profit corporation that manages the emerging LXI Standard (LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation), has just added a new membership category specifically designed for universities. Harbin Institute of Technology, located in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province, in northeast China, is the first university to join the Consortium.

At the same time, I'm sure that the Consortium will benefit from the exchange of ideas and research programs going on in university labs," said Von Campbell, the president of the LXI Consortium.

A variety of privileges are included with University Membership in the Consortium: 

--  A free digital copy of all Consortium publications intended for
    regular distribution, prior to distribution to the public, including pre-
    public access to any specifications under development, and of all final
    specifications as adopted by the Consortium.
    
--  The right to display the Consortium's logo on the university's Web
    site to indicate membership in the Consortium.
    
--  Free or discounted services provided by the Consortium as the Board of
    Directors may designate.
    
--  Such other benefits, rights and privileges applicable to this
    membership class as the Board of Directors may designate or the voting
    members may from time to time institute by vote at any meeting of the
    voting members.

Unlike the other membership categories, a University Membership does not include LXI product compliance certification privileges. The University Membership category is the fifth type of Consortium membership available; the others include Strategic, Participating, Advisory, and Informational. Annual dues for University Members are $500.
