In spite of the generally muted economic conditions in the fourth quarter of 2008, itelligence AG significantly improved its revenue and all its earnings ratios. Revenue climbed by 13.5% to MEUR 216.6, outperforming the Company's own expectations. IFRS earnings outstripped the growth in revenues, rising by 33.3% to MEUR 10.8 (previous year: MEUR 8.1). Earnings per share rose to EUR 0.44, up 22.2% on the prior-year figure of EUR 0.36. Herbert Vogel, CEO of itelligence AG, said: 'We are delighted to be able to distribute a dividend for the first time just in time for the 20th anniversary of itelligence AG.' In light of the difficult market environment, Herbert Vogel is satisfied with the results for the first quarter: 'We have had a good start to fiscal 2009. Our goals for 2009 as a whole are organic growth, particularly in Outsourcing & Services and in Managed Services, as well as a clear positioning as an SAP mid-market partner. Efficient cost management will help us to withstand the current economic situation.' The Management Board was given cause for optimism by orders on hand, which increased from MEUR 149.4 at the end of the first quarter of the previous year to MEUR 166.2 at the end of the first quarter 2009, almost matching the high level recorded at the end of 2008 (MEUR 168.5).
