Free Nicotine Patches and Gum to Be Distributed This June in L.A. County
Volunteers Needed to Assist in Effort to Help L.A. County Residents Quit Smoking
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 28, 2009) - The Los Angeles County Department of Public
Health, in conjunction with Ralphs and L.A. Care Health Plan, will give
away the largest free supply of nicotine patches and gum in California, and
are asking residents who are interested in helping others quit smoking to
volunteer during this giveaway. The
distribution of free nicotine patches and gum will take place at all 47
Ralphs pharmacies throughout Los Angeles County beginning Monday, June 15,
2009 while supplies last.
Volunteers over the age of 18 will assist the public with completing
surveys, directing people to the pharmacy, helping pharmacy staff,
distributing quit smoking materials and resources, and answering general
questions. The L.A. County Department of Public Health is asking
interested residents to commit to at least one three-hour shift, but
encourage them to volunteer more if their schedule permits.
To volunteer for this one-of-a-kind public health initiative, residents can
visit http://LAQuits.com to find a time
and location. Volunteers are especially needed Monday, June 15, Tuesday,
June 16, and Wednesday, June 17, and are asked to call or email
availability and contact information to: laquits@rogerspr.com or (310)
552-4195 by Friday, June 5, 2009.
